AMEC's First European Summit on measuring public relations

by Richard Bagnall 3/5/2009 8:09:00 PM

We're excited that we have booked our places at AMEC's first European Summit in Berlin this week.

Hopefully, this post may prompt you to do the same thing too.

But first things first.  Who or what are AMEC?

AMEC - the international association for the measurement and evaluation of communications - is the trade body for agencies like Metrica that provide media evaluation / media analysis and communication research.  AMEC was founded in 1996 with just 7 members (of which Metrica was one). Today, AMEC has 40 member companies operating on a truly global scale - the membership coming from countries as far as field as Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Portugal, Scandinavia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the UK and the US.

What does AMEC do on a day to day basis?

  • It runs the AMEC college - a virtual college helping students of PR measurement to learn the basics of our industry through education and training
  • It collaborates and partners with similar organisations like FIBEP, the CIPR and the PRCA on industry wide initiatives and events
  • It hosts a job board listing current vacancies at the PR measurement's leading consultancies
  • It promotes best practice in the media evaluation industry and ensures that its members maintain high standards of quality
  • It works at the forefront of the measurement industry providing leadership in new media and social media measurement techniques
  • It promotes the industry's growth and development
  • It runs and hosts the annual AMEC awards recognising best practice in PR measurement and media evaluation
  • As of June 10th - 12th this year, it runs the European Summit on Measurement which this year will be held in Berlin.

The summit's programme includes these confirmed speakers:

Bjorn Edlund, VP and Global Head of Communications, Royal Dutch Shell plc
